Drug Crimes
Penalties for Manufacturing or Intent to Distribute in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania Drug Crimes Law
Felony drug charges for the manufacturing and distribution of illicit drugs are serious, and if convicted, you could be facing jail time. In some cases, you may also be facing federal drug crime penalties. Federal drug crimes and penalties can result in heftier fines and harsher penalties. Some crimes that result in federal charges include distribution, sale, or trafficking of controlled substances. Penalties include:
- For manufacturing or the intent to deliver a narcotic such as heroin: up to a $250,000 penalty and up to 15 years in prison.
- For manufacturing or the intent to deliver drugs like cocaine, meth, PCP, or more than 1,000 lbs of marijuana: up to 10 years in prison and/or $100,000 in fines.
Possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute is a serious crime that often results in a prison sentence. Penalties can be increased if you are charged and convicted of selling drugs in a school zone or to a minor, or anyone under 21 years old. A criminal conviction can follow you for the rest of your life.
